Business owners, managers, and leaders this is also a great time to review and reflect. However, your reflection should be twofold: a review of the business or department and a reflection of your role as a leader.
First, dust off the business plan, strategic plan, or where ever you wrote the goals. Do the following analysis (include your team in the process):
Did we meet the goals?
- If we did not meet them, by how much did we miss them?
What happened in the industry or environment that prevented us from meeting the goals?
- If we met them, by how much did we exceed them?
What happened in the industry or environment that facilitated our meeting the goals?
After you review, determine what went well and what was not so great
What will the business, department, or organization keep for 2015?
What will the business, department, or organization change for 2015?
Second, review your role as business owner, manager, or leader (also see post from December 26).
If you did not meet the goals, ask yourself
“What was my role in our not meeting the goals?”
If you did meet the goals, ask yourself
“What was my role in our meeting the goals?”
List your actions that contributed to meeting the goals.
List your actions that detracted from meeting the goals.

What will you change for 2015?
